8AM - 11AMTire Repair 101

Get hands on training for a variety of different tire failure scenarios off-road. Learn about the tools and techniques required to get back home safely.


11AM - 12PMLunch

Lunch and non-alcoholic beverages provided.


12PM - 2PMOrienteering 101

Go back to basics with map, compass and ruler navigation. Includes hands on application with coursework around HQ/Camp.


2:30PM - 5:30PMFirst Aid and Trauma

A brief overview of the basics taught by Chris in the Bootcamp section of the Overland Bound forums followed by more in depth coverage on how to handle emergency medical situations off-road/off-grid.


6PMDay 1 Wrap Up & Dinner

Another fully catered meal with non-alcoholic beverages and campfire to wrap up the day.

8AM - 11AMOff-Road Training Part 1

Classroom and hands on time with Brenton.


11AM - 12PMClassroom Discussion & Lunch

Lunch and non-alcoholic beverages provided.


1PM - 4PMOff-Road Training Part 2

Continuation of classwork with Brenton with hands on time.


4PM - 5PMWrap Up

Full wrap up of the 2 days of training and transition to the weekend Rally!

9AM - 11AMHAM Technician Test

Official test to receive your HAM technician license administered by Pat Mandas, KG6JXZ. Test takers are encouraged to go to hamwhisperer.com to study prior to the exam. $15 testing fee included in training tuition cost.

Brenton Corns 4XFar Adventures, Land Rover Experience Driving Instructor

Certified instructor for Land Rover at Land Rover Experience Carmel. With 10+ years experience driving off road, planning multi-week trips, performing vehicle recoveries, and spotting drivers through tricky terrain, Brenton knows what it takes to get you out to the middle of nowhere and back home safely. He has also been teaching these vital skills for many years.


Chris Solis MD FACS Acute Care and Trauma Surgeon

Above and beyond being an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor, and Flight Surgeon for the East Bay Regional Parks, Chris is a passionate outdoorsman and teacher. He spends his professional time as the Chair Department of Surgery Sutter Delta Medical Center, and his personal time off-roading in his Camel Trophy Defender 110.


Andrea Shaffer Orienteering & Navigation

Rebelle Rally navigator for 2 years, competing in both 2016 and 2017. This October will be her 3rd time as a navigator. "I absolutely love map and compass navigation, and love helping others to learn it as well!"

KG6JXZ, WPUB330 Licensed Amateur Radio operator almost 20 years. Accredited volunteer examiner (VE) Laurel, ARRL 15+ years. Licensed GMRS operator 20+ years. Emergency Coordinator, Stanislaus County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES). Amateur Extra Class. Overland Bound member #7193. Communication Committee Overland Bound.
